Water is our lifeblood. Let’s conserve it.
On March 21, the national drought monitor announced that Dallas is officially back in a moderate to exceptional drought. And with the uncannily dry spring we’ve experienced, one can only guess how dry this summer is going to be. The Environment Texas Research ad Policy Center recently released a report regarding water conservation in Texas. According to our report, Texas can save 500 billion gallons of water every year by 2020 (enough to meet the municipal water needs of 9 million Texans) if we start implementing water conservation programs.
On April 4th, Environment Texas will be joined by experts to talk about the need for prioritizing our water.
Join us! RSVP HERE, or join on facebook to reserve your seat.
This event is free and open to the public, and will include light refreshments.

In the midst of one of the worst droughts in Texas history, our rivers are running low and our wildlife and natural places are suffering. Here in Dallas, we depend on the Trinity River for our water supply, and more people in the state rely on it than any other Texas river.
The good news is that we have all of the water we need — we just need to get smarter about how we use it. We’re building a movement from the ground up all across Texas, calling on Governor Perry and the Texas Water Development Board to protect our rivers and set aside more funding for water conservation.
Saving our rivers and our water for future generations is a big task — but we can do it if we all work together.
Join us at the campaign action meeting and find out how you can help save Texas rivers.
With a $2 billion water bill moving through the state legislature, now is the time to act. At the campaign action meeting, we’ll talk about our plan to build public support by working with the media, reaching out to local businesses and organizations, and collecting hundreds of petition signatures. We’ll also write letters to the editor to start raising awareness in local newspapers.
It doesn’t take much to get involved. It can be as simple as talking to your friends or writing a letter. The important thing is to get involved now so we can keep our rivers and streams–from the Trinity to the Guadalupe–flowing for our children and grandchildren.
Click here to let us know you’re coming on March 14 at 7:30 PM. And make sure to bring a friend–the more people join in, the bigger impact we’ll make.
See you there!
Jennifer

Rivers all across America are threatened with over use, dumping, over fishing, etc.. Be involved in the river protection of the one near you. (as well as helping with those near me) It helps us all.

So you have your site hosted by a hosting company. Does technical issue only include if your credit card processes OK for them? WFT? Does it include anything?
Anyone out there using Mac 10.5.8 and Firefox?
Please take a look at my site. Tell me if you see any images. Someone told me he can’t. PC and Mac but I don’t go back to 10.5.8… : (
Oh yeah , the worthless hosting company… InMotion. PISS OFF YOU LAZY …
In reading the book, Garbology, one gets a good picture of plastics and how they have gotten spread all over the world. It is really sad. Last night here in Dallas we had about an inch of rain all over the area. The creeks rose up to 3000 CFS from the 70 cfs it normally flows. I went out paddling today only to see the mile long line of debris coming into the lake from the creek. The sad part is that the day before was a clean up at the lake. Had this happened a day or so earlier, much of it would have been picked up. So now the lake is littered with plastic, Styrofoam, plastic bags, ice chest, etc.. And heres a strange thing, why is Styrofoam still being auto corrected to a Capital letter? isn’t it like tissue, Kleenex? Trash with a capital T. : (
When we are out paddling sometimes the intent is a workout. Sometimes it’s to fish or just to watch the wildlife enjoying their home. This is White Rock Lake. It is a local body of water in Dallas, TX that offers both lake paddling and a creek that give you a scenic 4 miles or more to enjoy a small creek with Egrets, Blue Heron, turtles and the occasional beaver. Putting in at the Mockingbird Bridge access point is easy. It also affords one quick access to the creek or on those days where a flat water paddle is really the ticket, about 4 miles of lake to play on. Sailboats only as no power boats are allowed so your paddling will be relaxed.
