Outfitting Your Canoe
Once you buy your canoe part of making it yours is adding the personal needs for your type of paddling adventures. These can include some D rings, and float bags, knee pads and foot straps.
Suppliers of Outfitting Goodies
There are many places that you can find supplies specific to paddle sports. Depending on where you live the best option may mean a log in to an online merchant or a trip across town. Here are some places that provide the hardware you need to get your canoe ready for a most excellent adventure.
Custom Craftsman
There will of course be times that require a special fit. Once you start putting the pieces into your canoe for that adventure of a day or longer, you'll start to see holes either in the way you loaded the boat, or in your equipment list that need an adjustment. Custom made boxes or wannagan can add to your ease of packing. Perhaps a trip to a local awning shop with a roll of canvas or a trip to the marina to the sail shop, is on your list to complete the storage or protection that was lacking on your last paddle adventure.
Repair
It's bound to happen sooner or later that your canoe will be in need of soem repair. Some of these you can do yourself, and other repair may be better suited to a professional. The members of the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association, WCHA, may be able to help locate someone in your area.
Additional Toys
Taking pictures of your trips is always a nice part of a trip as they help you to share the experience with your friends or even just relive a favorite stretch of water. The little Hero from GoPro has found it's way on to the front of my canoe a few time. Stills and video are possible.
